Dr. Sketchy's Drink & Draw

Here are some sketches I made at Dr. Sketchy's in Chicago. Dr. Sketchy's is a figure drawing session that combines burlesque and figuring drawing--it's BYOB, too.

The signed originals of these ink drawings are for sale at my Etsy store! You can buy one for $25, or you can buy the whole group for only $65! They were made on cold-press, 120lb watercolor paper with red india ink. They are each 8.5" x 11".

Just like any other figure drawing class, the session starts with one-minute gestures, and then slowly poses are held for increasing amounts of time. Here are a few gestures I drew:

I used charcoal for my gestures, and then did mostly graphite line drawings after that. Here are some graphite drawings, ranging from 5-20 minute poses. (Yes, those are jewish star pasties)

Round Robin Holiday Art

I am participating in a "Round Robin" Art Project with a few friends of mine from college. The way the Round Robin works is sort of like a relay race of art creation. The first person makes a piece of art in any media, any subject matter. Then, he/she sends it to another artist participating in the Round Robin. Upon receiving the first person's artwork, the next artist starts his/her own piece. There is not necessarily any connection between any of the pieces for this particular Round Robin, although I think it would be fun to try something in the future with a sort of theme or something where the pieces connect to each other more. Here is the piece I made when I received my friend Meredith's piece in the mail:

If you would like to follow along, you can keep track of our Round Robin happenings on our Round Robin Blog!
